Yoga at R.A.W. is meant to supplement the crossfit and cardio lifestyle that is so strongly embedded in the culture of the gym. We focus on Asana (moving through physical postures) and Pranayama (breath control). Breathing is primary and movement is secondary and when done mindfully in unison we find meditation in movement. A lot of focus is placed on the opening of hips and shoulders, two spots that tension creeps in with stress and exercise. We also use the yoga practice to build proportional body strength and awareness. It is a flow practice the concentrates on smooth and controlled movement with proper alignment being of the utmost importance. Yoga is a great supplement to the weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardio focus at R.A.W.
